Guardian Home Requirements

Adopters must meet the following criteria:

  1. Guardian Homes must live within 1hr away (for breeding females) or 30 minutes (for breeding males) from Lebanon. Oregon.

  2. Guardians, (you), are responsible for expenses of normal care: yearly vaccinations, vet bills, regular flea, and worming treatments, grooming, obedience classes, Licensing, and microchipping (Our name must also be on the microchip.)

  3. You are to provide good quality, no grain dog food. 

  4. You agree to provide routine grooming, whether it is professional or not. Kept clean, healthy and mat/flea free. 

  5. You must have the dog as an integral part of the family and agree that the dog will be an indoor dog and will never be kept outside for extended periods of time, but when the dog when outside, in a fenced yard. 

  6. Dogs must be kennel/crate and LEASH trained and know all basic commands.

  7. You need to be flexible when we need access to the dog for ‘dates’. And let me know of your vacations and planned absences. Let me know where the dog is located during those times in case of needing to use the dog. 

  8. You must contact me immediately when she first comes into heat every time, regardless of breeding plans. Be aware it’s really hard to keep other dogs away, and they themselves become escape artists. If the female is bred to another dog OTHER than the chosen stud, you may responsible for the difference of going price of each pup from a different father including the cost DNA testing per pup, if needed. 

  9. You must allow access to the female for an actual breeding. I will need to have the dog for a couple of days to get her bred and again after 8 wks of pregnancy for 6-8 weeks for whelping of the puppies. And you may visit the dog as often as you wish.

  10. You may not use or allow the use of the dog for breeding purposes ever.

  11. You must have no other intact dogs of the opposite sex in the home.

  12. You are responsible to ensure all persons residing with you understand and abide by the contract.

  13. Guardians of a male must be willing to train the dog to be a stud. I will provide you with websites for training the stud. He must never be reprimanded for doing what we are asking, but you can redirect him when necessary. Nor, can there be a dominant female in the home. 

  14. You must contact me immediately of changing addresses. BEFORE the move.
